AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL: Algorithmic Accountability Toolkit

This toolkit is designed for anyone looking to investigate and challenge the use of algorithmic systems in the public sector. It aims to synthesize the learnings of Amnesty International’s work in this area, particularly housed within the Algorithmic Accountability Lab, which specializes in researching, campaigning and advocating on issues related to state use of automated systems. Amnesty International has conducted multiple investigations into such systems over the past 3 years, and this toolkit captures many of the learnings and tried-and-tested methods from those. The toolkit details not only how to research these opaque systems and their resulting human rights violations, but also lays out comprehensive tactics for those working to end these abusive systems by seeking change and accountability via campaigning, advocacy or litigation.
